Lauryn Hill

Lauryn Hill est une chanteuse américaine de rap et de soul. Soliste d'or du groupe The Fugees, elle a largement contribué à son succès grâce à sa voix charismatique. L'album The Score (1996) où figurent des titres comme Ready or Not, Killing me softly ou Fugee-la est un des albums de rap les plus vendus de tous les temps. C'est en 1998 qu'elle lance sa carrière solo avec The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill pour lequel 5 Grammy awards, établissant un nouveau record pour une artiste féminine. A l'époque, Lauryn Hill est une chanteuse dont la qualité vocale est incontestée. Rien ne semble pouvoir se mettre en travers de sa route... sauf elle-même. Elle disparaît subitement de la scène pour mettre au monde cinq enfants. Ses quelques apparitions sur scène par la suite n'amorcent jamais un véritable retour. Selon Wyclef Jean, son compère des Fugees, Lauryn Hill serait bipolaire. Tant qu'elle ne soignera pas, les Fugees ne se reformeront pas. Une chose est sûre, sa voix restera à jamais gravée dans le panthéon des merveilles du monde.
